At J24 we aim to deliver a seamless shopping experience for the consumers and one of the key components of a smooth retail experience is an effecient point-of-sale (POS) system. A POS system is the hub of a retail operation, enables billing, inventory and sales management and store customer data. So the Golden Eye POS system is a crucial part of J24 tech.
Initially we used a third-party system for our POS in J24 stores. With the rate at which we are expanding, we realised that it was not a scalable solution. So we went on the ground to learn about POS technology from the ground up. We created a product road map for our in-house software, Goldeneye. It was 3-4 months of development and extensive study to understand and solve for various use cases. We ran multiple tests to strengthen the UI. First, we introduced goldeneye in the office and enhanced the UI based on feedback. Then we introduced goldeneye for the first time in Springfields, from where we learnt a lot and the development took good shape.
To develop a central analytic system to target at the customer level, we added payment connectivity and weighing machine integration to eliminate manual errors and make reconciliation easy, so that we can build an ecosystem with an edge to scale. Today all J24 stores are powered by the Golden Eye POS system which is at par with the industry-best systems in the market. the goal of J24 is to emphasise on the concept of buying local. Providing the comfort and convenience of a next door store, where customers can personalize your order multiple times.
From the GIANT/entrepreneur perspective, our goal is to create a reliable system so that the GIANT finds it convenient and feels so in control. Our next milestone in that direction is to provide remote and ease of access to store information in real time.
